Coca-Cola to Disclose Its Spending on Research Into Soft Drinks and Health - The New York Times

Coca-Cola in a move that echos the tobacco wars of three decades ago has announce the investment they have made in research to study the effects of drinking Coca-Cola.  The campaign was announced this week by their CEO.



Like most industry studies the outcome is pre-ordained to support their mission of  proving obesity is not due to Coca-Cola.   Their supposition is tat the current obesity epidemic is due to lack of exercise, and not the calories load of a can of cola.



The impetus for the  research was a ban in New York City on 'Super-size drinks in fast food restaurants.

Coca cola is leading this effort. The Online edition of the Huffington Post reports there are many drinks whose caloric load is greater than Coke's.
